Bee the Change

Working for IDAS and Haven, two domestic abuse charities in Yorkshire, I developed the branding and designed the learning resources and promotional material for Bee The Change. This is a schools based initiative which aims to tackle domestic abuse across Sheffield and Barnsley. School children nominated the title ‘Bee The Change’ and I used this as inspiration to create the Busy Bee character. This acts as a mascot across all the project materials for all ages and on all devices.

IDAS - independent domestic abuse services website

I have worked with IDAS, the largest specialist domestic abuse charity in Yorkshire over many years. I have developed their brand and visual identity, website and publicity material. I continue to collaborate with them, producing designs for their campaigns and to promote their new services. I have developed brand guidelines, as well as templates for newsletters, presentations and social media assets so they can develop their own branded materials.

nia website

nia runs services for women and girls who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution across East London. I worked with the team to develop their new website, involving staff and service users throughout the development phase. I started by running a site mapping exercise with the executive team to establish a structure for the website before leading a session with the full staff team which focused on desired features and content. After a design had been approved, I ran a session with staff and service users to test the prototype. Since launching the website, nia have asked me to develop other printed materials for them and I continue to support them with website updates.

Century of Change

Century of Change works with primary schools, arts and culture specialists, heritage partners and community groups to reimagine Sherwood Forest as a rich learning resource. The Century of Change website explores the Forest’s history from 1850 to 1950 and focuses on: Gardens, Mills, Mining, Transport and War. Working with an established branding, I built a website for the project which enables members of the team to add new resources such as PDFs and videos easily as and when they are developed. I trained the team in using the content management system and have subsequently been asked by them to produce additional branded print resources.

Innovate Educate

Innovate Educate ltd, business card

I have worked with Innovate Educate Ltd for over 15 years, producing engaging learning resources for businesses, heritage and cultural institutions. Recently, they asked me to refresh their own branding and website. I made some subtle adjustments to the logo to make it work more flexibly across different media and at varying sizes and chose a new type face to complement the existing typewritten display font. I expanded the colour scheme to include some contrasting highlights for standout as well as some subtle shades for use as background colours. I developed style guidelines to ensure brand integrity and created a series of templates so that branded PowerPoints and documents could be produced easily in-house. Most recently I have extended the ie brand by creating the logo and other assets for ie’s new creative business collaboration programme, The Artery.

Create Your Future

Create your future illustration of the dales

Part of Great Places Lakes and Dales, the ‘Create Your Future’ website showcases young people living and working in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. There are engaging video interviews with each featured young person showing them at work as well as a factsheet about their career. The website also includes downloadable toolkits with advice and guidance for young people who want to start their own creative businesses and those who are considering a rural career in the Lakes and Dales. After launching the website, I was asked by the Yorkshire Dales National Park to create some further publicity material including a pull up banner and career factsheets.

East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport website

Working for Innovate Educate Ltd, I designed and built the education website for East Midlands Airport. As well as providing an insight to careers at the Airport with video interviews, career factsheets and an interactive airport map, the website also pulls together all of the Airport’s educational resources and allows teachers to find material by key stage, topic and format. Resources can be added easily by members of the Airport education team.

Phil Reynolds Fine Art

Phil Reynolds Fine Art website

York based artist, Phil Reynolds wanted a new website to showcase his artwork and to advertise his art classes and upcoming exhibitions. I created a clean, minimalist design which allows his work to take centre stage and allows users to examine his art in detail. I provided a short training session on the content management system enabling Phil to easily keep his website and blog up to date.

Femicide Census

Femicide Census website

The Femicide Census is a unique record of the women who have been killed in the UK and the men who have killed them. The website displays key findings from the latest report in a visually accessible way as well as providing links to download full copies of all past reports. The website showcases powerful video interviews with relatives of some of the murdered women and also contains a blog which staff for the census can easily update.

IDAS courses

IDAS courses website

I worked with IDAS to create and develop their online training. Since launching in 2017, the basic awareness courses now form part of the strategic training plan for local partners and were completed by nearly 6000 people in 2021. Professionals and volunteers are also able to access a full programme of free training events throughout the year. The events can either be delivered face to face or as a live streamed, online session meaning that training was able to run successfully throughout COVID with around 3000 attendees during 2021.
